The league should be giving Perry a stern talking to as far I’m concerned , cheap to the head , Perry knew what he was doing .

From the last thread

Is this sarcasm? Honestly can't tell.

Pouliot has always sucked, now he just sucks with increased playing time. He and Hunwick are actually kind of similar, good skaters but weak and dumb.

And Hunwick vs. Pouliot isn't even the question - it's Cole vs. Hunwick, as the answer is sitting right there.

Total sarcasm. I’m on my phone so the emojis aren’t available haha

LOL, I kinda like Ryan admitting he's beating a dead horse on Reaves.

From the last thread in regards to the Cole/Hunwick comparison

Was that just the graph on zone entries and exits? If so that's just not enough to base a lineup decision on unless it's close.

Any chance the league will look at the hit? Is this that much different from the Andrew Cogliano hit? Hard to tell what is a suspension anymore.

And the reality is that Perry wanted to decapitate Letang completely, sever the head right off. But Reaves' presence deterred him into just delivering a glancing sideways blow.

So it does work.

Seriously though, 40+ games in the Penguins have been relatively healthy and there have been far fewer shenanigans against them than in years past.

Reduced shenanigans could be thanks to the Slashing Enforcement also. I imagine not having your hands broken on every play has reduced ire across the league.

Hero charts are pretty similar. Same total points and shot suppression with Hunwick having one better on shot generation.

In theory, Hunwick has some skills that could fit better, but so far it hasn't worked out.

I agree. The league actually came out calling every little infraction and I think players just scaled back.

For the record, the “better player” isn’t always the “best fit.” I think Cole fits this team and system. He’s almost the Chris Kunitz of defensemen.

Its a very hard thing to quantify but you make some good points. I just kinda wish they'd dress someone different on the nights they are playing deeper offence teams.

We can agree on that. Sometimes it looks good on paper until you actually add a guy. That's why I like keeping guys who I know fit when reasonable over saving a small amount for a guy I think might work better.

Perry playing dirty is as regular as the sun rising in the morning, Bob Nutting being cheap, or the Steelers trying a risky pass play on fourth and inches. He gets away with it because of his skill and the fact that he was one of the most skilled players in the league about five+ years ago. I thought he preferred spearing guys in the groin over taking head shots, though.

I had fun watching last night’s game despite the bad outcome. Fast, open ice hockey.

I don’t mind Sprong getting yanked in the third. Like I was saying yesterday, somethings missing in his game and I don’t notice him until he’s physically shooting the puck. He’s young and it’s not like he’s doing anything agregious out there like turning the puck over, but Sully’s gotta teach him to not just be a floater, so an occasional benching is fine as part of the teaching process. As long as he doesn’t start getting scratched on a regular basis for like Kuhnhackl or Reaves or someone on the fourth line when Rust comes back.

Once again, pretty much every possible measurement shows that Sheary is one of our most productive even strength scores, but he will continue to be this board’s whipping boy.

Other than the game where he scored 2 he's been pretty invisible. He's not as fast with the puck as I thought he'd be. He's also rushing his shots. I hope he can adjust to NHL speed and start placing them a bit better.

He's 2nd behind Phil in 5v5 scoring. He hasn't been invisible.
